Description

Alfred G. Vanderbilt said that Pimlico Race Course is an accepted American institution, devoted to the best interests of a great sport.

Offidially opened in 1870, Pimlico offersThoroughbred horse racing from spring to fall each year. It is the venue for both the Preakness Stakes and Pimlico Special, and is the place where Seabiscuit beat War Admiral in 1938.

The attendance capacity is over 120 000, and there is stabling for about 1 000 horses.
